I Live Here, I Give Here’s mission is to deepen and expand the culture of personal philanthropy by inspiring Central Texans to invest more money in our community. We educate and connect individuals and non-profits so more Central Texans experience the personal benefit of increased philanthropy.

Did you know that according to a study done by The Chronicle of Philanthropy in 2012, Austin is ranked 32nd out of the 50 largest cities in the nation in per capita charitable giving? This is a big improvement over our ranking at the beginning of the 21st century when we ranked 48, but there is still a lot of room for growth!

Austin is a vibrant city with a personality all its own. Central Texans are passionate, driven, and generous volunteers of their time and talent. But that’s not enough. The biggest problem facing Austin Nonprofits is there is not enough money.

Our community is well known for cherishing its environment and local businesses, its time to nurture our home-grown nonprofits in the same way!

We depend on our nonprofits to meet so many of the Austin's most basic needs; but the shortage of funds for these organizations is creating large gaps in services.

This is where I Live Here, I Give Here steps in. Our main purpose is to connect people like YOU with the issues you care about and the Nonprofits that support them.

I Live Here, I Give Here is proud of the work we have accomplished since our launch in 2007. We connect the people of Austin with the causes they care about.

We partner with nonprofit groups so they can be more accessible to you. We spotlight specific needs in Austin every month to let you know how you can help.

We are calling on our I Live Here, I Give Here® partner agencies to nominate an exemplary donor for recognition as The BIG Giver for our annual celebration of philanthropy, the 2014 BIG Give.

The BIG Give! is I Live Here I Give Here’s annual party with a purpose! At the BIG Give!, we recognize one BIG Giver, an individual philanthropist making a huge personal impact in our community in a meaningful way and setting a tangible example for others.

The 2014 Big Give! event will take place on Friday, September 26 at the Hyatt Regency Austin. In addition to recognizing the Big Giver, little and BIG prize recipients, 400 guests will enjoy BIG night of fantastic live music, a stellar silent auction, savory fare and much more! In addition to recognizing the Big Giver, little and BIG prizes will be award to two nonprofit. Over 400 guests will enjoy a BIG night of fantastic live music, a stellar silent auction, entertainers, savory fare and much more!

BIG Giver goes to Washington!

The selected 2014 BIG Giver will not only be honored here in Austin but will represent the city of Austin in Washington DC! Through a honored partnership with the Austin American Statesman, the selected BIG Giver will also serve as Austin’s nominee for the National Jefferson Awards for Public Service. The national awards take place summer 2015, and it will be a paid trip for the nominee. This person will also be highlighted in a piece in the Statesman. Several BIG Giver finalists will also receive an article in the Statesman in 2015.

2014 Big Giver!

We are looking to honor this year’s inspiring philanthropist. What makes a BIG Giver? Our objective is to challenge the stereotype of a philanthropist and the idea the BIG Giver is only someone whose name is on a building or contributing large gifts. Do you have a supporter who:

  • Had an innovative approach to raise funds for your organization?
  • Inspired a group of colleagues to support your organization?
  • Impacted the lives of those you serve in a special, unique way or who changed how your organization operates?

In order to be eligible:

  • This person MUST give personal contributions at a level meaningful to them.
  • Be someone who I Live Here I Give Here’s target audience (25-45 yr olds) can relate to and be inspired by.
  • May be someone who gives his or her time and talent, but MUST also give financially, personally (not solely through family or company foundations).
  • MUST be able to speak on behalf of the organization that he/she supports.
  • MUST be able to speak about the personal benefit he/she receives from their philanthropy.
  • Nominating Organization MUST be a partner organization of I Live Here, I Give Here with current dues updated.
